Tutorial: Coloring for dummies by demitasse-lover Tutorial: Coloring for dummies by demitasse-lover
Because I have nothing to do. Sorry if it's not any use to people who are already used to photoshop. this is for those who completely have no idea what to do with it, like me when I first laid my hands on one.

They're supposed to be flying paper planes but I was thinking I didn't have to color everthing in it since it was just a tutorial so I cropped it chopping poor widdle Gisuke's head off.

This ain't the best way in coloring. Just the way I color mine

aaaaaaw! i love how you colored his hair! i'm really having a hard time doing the hair part so most of the time, i try to make a picture which doesn't involve too much hair (even though hair seems to be the best part of coloring).. >.<

any tips for the hair?

nice tutorial
question, for the shadows, did you use the blur tool to soften or does it do that itself with it's low opacity?

:icondemitasse-lover:

Oh. Hmm. Well, there are some cases when I open photoshop and the pressure sensitivity doesn't seem to be activated and I simply assume that the tablet driver hasn't loaded properly and I so just restart the computer. But if that always happens to you.. erm.. I don't really know. ^^; sorry I can't help. Have you tried reinstalling the tablet driver?

perhaps.. but then again, the scanner I used at that time was ancient. Maybe the thickness of the lines or such.

One Question, please -
how did you get it that the colors don't "blanket" the lines or vice versa??? :iconarigatouplz:
Reply
:icondemitasse-lover:
demitasse-lover Featured By Owner Feb 5, 2010
easy. set the blending mode for the lineart layer to multiply and place the color layer underneath it. :)

I have a question, hopefully you can understand it. The part where you fill the background with green so you can see light colors, I did that but everytime I make a new layer for like skin, hair etc whatever I'm starting with the color messes up when I multiply it.I know I have to be doing it right because I've tried this on tons of pictures and looked at bunch of tutorials

:icondemitasse-lover:
demitasse-lover Featured By Owner Dec 29, 2009
You only need to set the Multiply the lineart layer.
Reply
:iconkuradoll:
kuradoll Featured By Owner Dec 30, 2009  Student Digital Artist
and thats what I did( I even just tried it again real quick) but still when I multiply the skin color layer it just kinda bleeds through the green,I'm sorry I'm not good at explaining >.<
